
Tonya Kent
2020 Board Nomination Bio

Tonya is a criminal defence lawyer seeking to become a board member for the Credit Union. She graduated from York University with a specialized honours degree in Sociology and has a Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan.
Currently practicing as a criminal lawyer in Toronto, she is a member of another Board for a women's health clinic where she has gained relevant experience reviewing balance sheets and other financial documents. Also, she has been part of the process to ensure that the clinic passes all relevant evaluations to continue operating.
Tonya serves on two different committees for the Criminal Lawyers' Association (CLA). Throughout her university career and in her professional career, she has always involved herself with community-driven projects.
For the past three years, she has served as a member of different boards. Passionate about everything she does, if voted in as a Board Member, she would bring the skills learned while serving on numerous committees along with the skills she has gained over the past four years as a lawyer to the board.
